Blancpain เป็นผู้นำในเรื่องของการผลิตนาฬิกาดำน้ำมาตั้งแต่ที่มีการผลิต Fifty Fathoms รุ่นแรกออกมาในปี ค.ศ. 1953 สำหรับในยุคสมัยปัจจุบันนั้น ดีไซน์ของ Fifty Fathoms อย่างที่เราคุ้นตากันนั้นเริ่มมีมาตั้งแต่ปี ค.ศ. 2007 แต่ว่าตัวเรือนนั้นมีขนาด 45 มม. เท่านั้น จนกระทั่งเมื่อปีที่แล้วจึงมี Fifty Fathoms รุ่นขนาด 42 มม. ออกมา แต่ก็มีเพียงรุ่นไทเทเนียมเกรด 23 และรุ่นเร้ดโกลด์ ก่อนที่จะมีรุ่นสเตนเลสสตีลตามออกมาในที่สุดเมื่อเดือนเมษายนที่ผ่านมานี้เอง
ตัวเรือนของ Fifty Fathoms รุ่นสเตนเลสสตีลนี้มีความสามารถในการกันน้ำถึงระดับความลึก 300 เมตร และได้รับการขัดแต่งเป็นอย่างดีให้สะท้อนแสงอย่างเงางามในทุกมุมมอง หน้าปัดสีดำมีการขัดลายซันเบิสท์และประดับหลักชั่วโมงเรืองแสงขนาดใหญ่เพื่อความชัดเจนในการอ่านค่า และแน่นอนว่าขอบตัวเรือนแบบหมุนได้ทิศทางเดียวนั้นจะต้องมีวงแหวนแซฟไฟร์ทรงโดมอันเป็นเอกลักษณ์ครอบไว้อยู่

Blancpain has been a pioneer in the field of dive watches since the release of the original Fifty Fathoms in 1953. The modern design of the Fifty Fathoms as we know it today was introduced in 2007, though at the time it was only available in a 45 mm case. The 42 mm version was belatedly introduced last year, only in grade 23 titanium and red gold. It was not until this April that the stainless steel version has finally joined the range.
The new Fifty Fathoms in stainless steel is water resistant to the depth of 300 metres. It features a beautifully finished case that catches the light from every angle. The black dial is given an intricate sunburst finish, and fitted with large luminescent hour markers for optimum legibility. The unidirectional rotating bezel, of course, is topped with the collection’s signature domed sapphire insert.
Powering the watch is the Calibre 1315, a self-winding movement that has proven its reliability since 2007. It offers an impressive power reserve of five days, thanks to the 3-barrel construction. The balance spring is made of silicon, enhancing resistance to magnetic fields. The red gold rotor, inspired by the design of the original 1953 model, is coated with a platinum alloy known as NAC. All of this can be admired through the sapphire crystal caseback the next time you visit a Blancpain boutique!
