จะเรียกว่าเราลำเอียงก็ได้ แต่ว่าเราประทับใจความโฉบเฉี่ยวแบบหนักแน่นและมีเอกลักษณ์ของ Defy Skyline Skeleton มาตั้งแต่ที่ได้เห็นเวอร์ชั่นแรกที่เป็นสเตนเลสสตีลในงาน LVMH Watch Week ที่สิงคโปร์เมื่อตอนต้นปี ค.ศ. 2023 จนกระทั่งในปีนี้ Zenith ก็ได้เปิดตัวนาฬิการุ่นนี้ในเวอร์ชั่นเซรามิกสีดำที่ดุดันภายในงาน LVMH Watch Week ที่มิลาน และเราก็ได้เห็นเรือนจริงหลังจากนั้นไม่นานเมื่อทางแบรนด์นำเรือนจริงมาโชว์ที่บูติคที่ Siam Paragon
Defy เป็นชื่อของนาฬิกาสปอร์ตที่มีสายแบบอินทีเกรทซึ่ง Zenith ผลิตเป็นครั้งแรกในปี ค.ศ. 1969 โดยมีขอบตัวเรือนแบบ 14 เหลี่ยม ก่อนที่จะเปลี่ยนเป็นขอบตัวเรือนแบบ 12 เหลี่ยมเมื่อมีการเปิดตัวไลน์ Defy Skyline ในปี ค.ศ. 2022 ให้เป็นนาฬิกาสไตล์สปอร์ตที่มีเหลี่ยมมุมดุดัน แทนที่ Defy Classic ที่มีอยู่ก่อนหน้าและถูกเลิกผลิตในปีเดียวกันนั้น

จนกระทั่งในปีนี้ Zenith จึงได้เพิ่มเวอร์ชั่นเซรามิกขัดด้านสีดำที่น่าหลงใหลไม่เบาเข้ามา จากเดิมที่มีตัวเรือนและสายสีอ่อนตัดกับเครื่องสีเข้มก็กลายเป็นตัวเรือนและสายสีดำตัดกับเครื่องที่เคลือบสีโรสโกลด์ด้วยกระบวนการพีวีดี โดยที่ยังคงให้ความรู้สึกถึงความเป็นเมืองใหญ่ที่มีชีวิตชีวาด้วยสถาปัตยกรรมของตึกสูงต่างๆ

You could call it bias, but we have been captivated by the bold, sharply defined and unmistakable character of the Defy Skyline Skeleton ever since we first encountered the original stainless steel version at LVMH Watch Week in Singapore in early 2023. This year, Zenith unveiled the model in a striking new black ceramic execution at LVMH Watch Week in Milan, and we were able to see the watch in person shortly afterwards when they brought it to their boutique at Siam Paragon.
Defy is the name of Zenith’s integrated bracelet sports watch, first introduced in 1969 with a distinctive 14-sided bezel. This design language later evolved into a 12-sided bezel with the 2022 launch of the Defy Skyline as a more angular and assertive sports watch that replaced the then-existing Defy Classic.
The Defy Skyline Skeleton entered Zenith’s catalogue in early 2023 in stainless steel. Much of the appeal of this 41 mm model lies in its use of openworked dial to reveal a skeletonised movement whose 4-pointed-star architecture is inspired by a vintage Zenith logo, before the brand changed to the current 5-pointed-star emblem. Calibre El Primero 3620 SK inside is a high-frequency movement featuring a 1/10th second indicator at 6 o’clock which completes one full rotation every 10 seconds. It is wound to the full 55-hour power reserve by a 5-pointed star rotor.
The new version added to the line most recently is an especially compelling brushed black ceramic one. Where the earlier models contrasted a lighter case and bracelet against a darker movement, this new edition reverses the effect. The black ceramic exterior frames a movement treated with rose-gold PVD, while still evoking the energy of a modern metropolis through its architectural, skyscraper-like geometry.
The new Zenith Defy Skyline Skeleton in black ceramic is also supplied with an additional black rubber strap, allowing the wearer to switch styles quickly and effortlessly without the need for any tools.
