โดยปกติแล้วกองบรรณาธิการของเราจะพยายามมองล่วงหน้าว่าในปีต่อไปจะมีแบรนด์หรือคอลเลคชั่นนาฬิกาอะไรครบรอบกี่ปีบ้าง แต่สิ่งที่เราพลาดไปตรงจุดนี้คือเราไม่ได้คิดถึงประเด็นที่ว่าตัวเรือนแบบออยส์เตอร์ของ Rolex นั้นถือกำเนิดขึ้นในปี 1926 และมีอายุครบ 100 ปีในปีนี้
Rolex เองนั้นก็เป็นแบรนด์ที่ไม่ฉลองครบรอบอายุของแบรนด์หรือนาฬิการุ่นใดๆ อย่างเห็นได้ชัดด้วย ดังนั้นเมื่อเขาเลือกนำเสนอเรื่องราวแห่งการครบรอบหนึ่งศตวรรษของตัวเรือนนาฬิกากันน้ำแบบออยส์เตอร์ ในปีนี้ เราจึงต้องติดตามอย่างใกล้ชิดเป็นพิเศษ จนกระทั่งได้เห็นเรือนเวลาแห่งการเฉลิมฉลองที่คู่ควรกับความสำเร็จดังกล่าวเป็นอย่างยิ่งภายในงาน Watches and Wonders Geneva 2026

นาฬิกาใหม่ของ Rolex จากงาน Watches and Wonders Geneva 2026 รุ่นสุดท้ายที่เราเลือกมานำเสนอในบทความนี้ก็คือ Oyster Perpetual Day-Date 40 ซึ่งถูกใช้เป็นรุ่นเปิดตัววัสดุชนิดใหม่ซึ่งเป็นอัลลอยของทอง 18 กะรัตที่ Rolex พัฒนาและผลิตเองในรูปแบบอินเฮ้าส์และตั้งชื่อให้ว่าจูบีลีโกลด์ โทนสีของทองชนิดนี้จะเป็นเหลืองอ่อนผสมกับความเทาจางๆ แฝงด้วยเฉดชมพูเล็กน้อย

To mark the 100th anniversary of the crucial innovation, Rolex has rolled out different executions from a celebratory inscription to an all-new gold alloy.

Our editorial team typically try to look ahead and identify which watch brands or collections will be celebrating significant anniversaries in the coming year. What we overlooked this time, however, was the fact that Rolex’s Oyster case was first introduced in 1926, making this year its centenary.
Rolex is not a brand known for overt celebration of anniversaries, whether of the company’s founding or of specific watch models. That is precisely why, when they chose to highlight the 100th anniversary of the waterproof Oyster case this year, we eagerly anticipated the novelties at Watches and Wonders Geneva 2026.
The watch featured on the opening page of this article is the Oyster Perpetual 41 in a yellow Rolesor configuration unlike the conventional execution we have known before. While the bezel is crafted from 18 ct yellow gold, the centre links of the bracelet are made from Oystersteel rather than yellow gold. Its slate-grey sunray finish dial features 18 ct yellow gold hands and hour markers. The Rolex logo is printed in green rather than the usual white or black – it is matched by the green five-minute markers around the outer perimeter of the dial.
And because this watch was created to celebrate the centenary of the Oyster case, Rolex discreetly incorporated two small but deeply meaningful details. First, at 6 o’clock, where the words “SWISS MADE” would normally be, the dial instead bears the inscription “100 YEARS”. Secondly, beneath the crown emblem on the gold winding crown is the number 100. Both are subtle marks of pride for the owner of this watch which is equipped with the calibre 3230 with a 70-hour power reserve. Rolex is also producing this model in a 36 mm version, ensuring wearability and access to a wider audience of buyers.
Next comes the striking multicolour Jubilee motif dial of the Oyster Perpetual 36 in full Oystersteel. The Jubilee motif itself is not a new design, having existed since the 1970s. It is composed of repeated Rolex lettering, arranged in a grid-like pattern.
Historically, Jubilee motif dials were monochromatic – they were often entirely gold in tone. This time, however, Rolex has chosen to execute the motif in at least 10 contrasting colours. This is an extraordinarily demanding feat from a manufacturing perspective. Each colour must be applied individually rather than simultaneously, with absolute precision required to ensure that every hue remains perfectly within its designated area, whether on the lettering itself or the adjacent background sections.
This Oyster Perpetual 36 displays the time with 18 ct white-gold hands and hour markers that stand out clearly against the vibrant dial. It is powered by the same calibre 3230 with a 70-hour power reserve. As with the first model, the multicolour Jubilee motif dial is also available in a 41 mm version for those who prefer a larger watch.
For anyone seeking a date function, the new Oyster Perpetual Datejust 41 in white Rolesor may prove especially compelling, as this marks the first time Rolex has produced a green ombré dial within this line.
The case is crafted from Oystersteel and paired with an 18 ct white-gold fluted bezel which frames an ombré dial which is a style Rolex reintroduced in 2019. This is, however, the first time Rolex has created an ombré dial entirely using lacquer techniques. The process begins with a dark green lacquer base, followed by the careful application of black lacquer sprayed in a circular gradient around the outer edge to create a richly dimensional effect.
Apart from the configuration shown in this article, buyers may also choose the new green ombré Datejust 41 in other configurations, such as with a smooth bezel instead of a fluted one, or on a Jubilee bracelet rather than the Oyster bracelet presented here. And just like the previous two models, the Datejust with green ombré dial is also available in a 36 mm size. Both sizes are powered by the calibre 3235 with a 70-hour power reserve.
The final new Rolex watch from Watches and Wonders Geneva 2026 that we have chosen to feature in this article is the Oyster Perpetual Day-Date 40, which also serves as the debut model for a new material called Jubilee Gold. This in-house-developed 18 ct gold alloy is in the shade that combines pale yellow with subtle grey undertones and a hint of pink.
The dial chosen by Rolex for this Day-Date 40 is equally fascinating: a natural light green aventurine stone dial that lends the watch an air of softness and refinement reminiscent of a priceless painting. The dial is set with 10 baguette-cut diamond hour markers, leaving only the day and date apertures at 12 and 3 o’clock untouched. The hands are crafted from Jubilee Gold to match both the case and the President bracelet. This Day-Date 40 is powered by the calibre 3255 with a 70-hour power reserve.
Our June issue carries the theme “Breakthrough”, which is why we have focused primarily on presenting these new timepieces themselves. The story of the Oyster’s significance and achievements would, in truth, require many more pages to tell properly. The Oyster case is not a single watch model, but rather the foundation upon which countless robust timepieces have been developed – watches that have played a role in a century of human achievement across numerous fields. That is a story we hope to share with our readers on another occasion.
