มหกรรมศิลปะนานาชาติ Venice Biennale ครั้งที่ 61 เริ่มต้นขึ้นแล้วโดยมี 100 ประเทศเข้าร่วมงาน

งานแสดงนิทรรศการศิลปะและวัฒนธรรมร่วมสมัยนานาชาติที่เก่าแก่ที่สุด La Biennale di Venezia หรือ Venice Biennale Arte ได้เริ่มต้นขึ้นแล้ว จากจุดเริ่มต้นเมื่อปี ค.ศ. 1895 ที่สภาเมืองเวนิสริเริ่มงานนี้ขึ้นเพื่อเฉลิมฉลองวาระอภิเษกสมรสครบ 25 ปีของกษัตริย์อุมแบร์โตที่ 1 และพระนางมาร์เกริตาแห่งซาวอย และถือโอกาสส่งเสริมกิจกรรมทางศิลปะของอิตาลีในขณะเดียวกัน
Venice Biennale Arte ไม่เพียงเป็นการกระตุ้นเศรษฐกิจและการท่องเที่ยวของเมืองเวนิสเท่านั้น หากยังมีบทบาทเสมือนโอลิมปิกแห่งโลกศิลปะ เป็นเวทีระดับโลกให้แก่ศิลปินสาขาต่างๆ จากนานาประเทศมาแสดงผลงานสู่สายตาชาวโลกอีกด้วย
งานนี้จัดขึ้นทุก 2 ปี และในปีนี้จัดขึ้นตั้งแต่วันที่ 9 พฤษภาคมจนถึง 22 พฤศจิกายน ภายใต้ธีมของนิทรรศการหลักที่มีชื่อว่า “In Minor Keys” เพื่อเป็นเกียรติแด่ โคโย คูโอห์ ที่ได้จากไปเมื่อเดือนพฤษภาคมปี ค.ศ. 2025 ภัณฑารักษ์ศิลปะและผู้นำทางวัฒนธรรมชาวแคเมอรูน-สวิส ท่านนี้เป็นผู้มีอิทธิพลอย่างสูงในวงการศิลปะร่วมสมัยระดับโลก โดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่งในเรื่องของการผลักดันศิลปะแอฟริกันให้เป็นที่ยอมรับในเวทีสากล
“In Minor Keys” สะท้อนแนวคิดของโคโยในการให้ความสำคัญกับแนวทางในการสร้างสรรค์ผลงานศิลปะที่ช้าลง มีความลึกซึ้งถึงแก่นของมนุษย์ และเปี่ยมไปด้วยจิตวิญญาณ โดยงานนิทรรศการในครั้งนี้เกิดขึ้นได้ด้วยความร่วมมือจากทีมงานที่โคโยคัดเลือกไว้และได้มอบหมายหน้าที่ให้สมาชิกแต่ละคนดูแล ร่วมกับ 110 ศิลปินรับเชิญจากทั่วโลกซึ่งมีทั้งศิลปินเดี่ยว ศิลปินคู่ ศิลปินกลุ่ม และองค์กรที่นำโดยศิลปินซึ่งต่างก็มาจากหลากหลายพื้นที่และภูมิภาค โดยโคโยให้ความสำคัญเป็นพิเศษกับความสอดคล้อง ความสัมพันธ์ และความเป็นไปได้ในการบรรจบกันระหว่างแนวทางปฏิบัติของศิลปินที่แม้ว่าจะอยู่ห่างไกลกันแต่ก็สามารถเชื่อมโยงเขาเหล่านั้นเข้ากันได้อย่างกลมกลืน
นอกจากนิทรรศการหลัก “In Minor Keys” ซึ่งจะจัดแสดงที่พาวิลเลียนกลาง (Central Pavilion หรือ Padiglione Centrale) ที่ตั้งอยู่บริเวณจาร์ดินีเดลลาเบียนนาเล (Giardini della Biennale) แล้วก็ยังมีการจัดแสดงผลงานจาก 100 ประเทศทั่วโลกที่จะตั้งอยู่บริเวณสวนสาธารณะแห่งนี้ บริเวณอาร์เซนาเลดิเวนิเซีย (Arsenale di Venezia) และบริเวณใจกลางเมืองเวนิส ให้ผู้เข้าเยี่ยมชมได้สัมผัสกับศิลปะร่วมสมัยในรูปแบบต่างๆ อีกด้วย

La Biennale di Venezia, better known internationally as the Venice Biennale Arte, has officially begun once again. Originally founded in 1895 by the city council of Venice to celebrate the 25th wedding anniversary of King Umberto I and Margherita of Savoy, the event also served from the outset as a platform to promote Italian artistic activities.
Today, La Biennale di Venezia is not merely an important driver of tourism and the local economy in Venice, but also functions as something akin to the Olympics of the art world. It is a truly global stage where artists from many disciplines and countries present their work to an international audience.
The exhibition takes place every two years, and this year’s edition runs from 9 May until 22 November under the key curatorial theme “In Minor Keys”. The exhibition is dedicated to the memory of Koyo Kouoh, the influential Cameroonian-Swiss curator and cultural leader who passed away in May 2025. She was widely recognised as one of the most important voices in the contemporary art world, particularly for her role in advancing Pan-African art onto the international stage.
“In Minor Keys” reflects Kouoh’s belief in slower, more contemplative forms of artistic creation – works rooted deeply in the human essence and imbued with spiritual resonance. The exhibition has been realised through collaboration between the curatorial team personally assembled and tasked by Kouoh, together with 110 invited artists from around the world. These contributors include individual artists, artist duos, collectives and artist-led organisations representing a wide variety of regions and cultural backgrounds. Kouoh placed particular emphasis on dialogue, interconnectedness and the possibility of convergence between artistic practices that may originate from distant places yet remain capable of harmoniously resonating with one another.
In addition to the principal exhibition “In Minor Keys”, which will be staged at the Central Pavilion (Padiglione Centrale) within the Giardini della Biennale, visitors will also be able to explore 100 national participations located throughout the Giardini area, the Arsenale di Venezia and the city centre of Venice, offering a broad spectrum of contemporary artistic expression from around the world.
An opportunity to experience one of the world’s most celebrated UNESCO heritage cities while immersing oneself in contemporary art at the highest international level is naturally limited in duration.
