When one thinks of travelling in Egypt, the usual images that come to mind are those of the ancient wonders of the world: the Great Pyramid of Giza, the Great Sphinx, museums, deserts, and perhaps a cruise along the Nile. However, short day trips are simply not enough, for both banks of Egypt’s lifeline are rich with stories, local ways of life, and numerous sites of cultural and historical interest. It is for this reason that we wish to introduce the Nile Seray, a new luxury river cruiser from the A&K Sanctuary fleet, set to launch next year, as an option to be considered for your Egypt itinerary.
A&K Sanctuary pioneered luxury cruising on the Nile. The idea came to Geoffrey Kent, founder and Chairman Emeritus of Abercrombie & Kent, after he met British actor David Niven on the set of Death on the Nile, the classic film based on Agatha Christie’s novel. The encounter inspired Kent to introduce luxury Nile cruising for the first time in 1977, setting a new standard for Egyptian travel ever since.
The Nile Seray will be the fifth luxury vessel in the A&K Sanctuary fleet, launching in 2026. Accommodating up to 64 guests, the ship features 36 spacious suites starting from 33 square metres. Each suite is thoughtfully designed with floor-to-ceiling windows that allow guests to enjoy the scenery of the Nile from the comfort of their room, and all include generously sized private bathrooms. Two of the suites will feature private outdoor balconies complete with plunge spas. The ship will also offer all the comforts expected of a 5-star hotel, including two restaurants – one indoor and one al fresco – as well as a gym and spa for holistic well-being even while travelling.
The itinerary is a 4-day exclusive journey between Aswan and Luxor, designed to transport guests back in time to experience Egypt’s cultural heritage in depth. The trip is designed by combine discovery with scholarly insight of an Egyptologist who will accompany guests throughout. Travellers will visit the magnificent temples of Luxor, Karnak and Aswan, as well as explore rarely included sites on the Nile’s west bank such as the tombs of Nefertari, Seti I, Ramses VI and Tutankhamun. Cultural experiences are sailing on a felucca around Elephantine Island and learning to cook Egyptian cuisine will also be part of the voyage.
