MIDO เป็นแบรนด์ที่ทำให้ผู้บริโภคมีตัวเลือกนาฬิกาสวิสเมดระดับคุณภาพอยู่เสมอ และหลายคอลเลคชั่นก็เป็นนาฬิกาแนวสปอร์ตที่เหมาะกับการสวมใส่ในชีวิตประจำวันและแอคทีฟไลฟ์สไตล์ เมื่อช่วงไตรมาสที่ 3 ของปีที่แล้วเราก็ประทับใจกับนาฬิกาดำน้ำรุ่น Ocean Star 39 ไปแล้วด้วยประสิทธิภาพการกันน้ำและเนื้องานที่เรียกว่าทำได้ดีเกินราคา
และเมื่อเปิดปีนี้มาได้เพียง 3 เดือนเราก็ยังได้พบกับผลงานสุดเซอร์ไพรส์ในชื่อ Multifort 8 Two Crowns ซึ่งนำเสนอความสปอร์ตแบบคมคายด้วยคอนเซปท์ Technometry ซึ่งเป็นการโคจรมาพบกันของ Technology และ Geometry
Multifort 8 Two Crowns เป็นนาฬิกาแนวสปอร์ตขนาดตัวเรือน 40 มม. ที่มีสายเบรซเลทดีไซน์เชื่อมต่อกับตัวเรือนอย่างแนบสนิทอย่างที่เรียกว่า “อินทีเกรท” โดยจะไม่มีขาตัวเรือนยื่นออกมาทางด้านซ้ายและขวา ขอบตัวเรือนมีรูปทรงแปดเหลี่ยมตามคอนเซปท์เรขาคณิตหรือ Geometry ที่กล่าวถึงข้างต้น และยังมีอีกหนึ่งจุดขายสำคัญก็คือขอบตัวเรือนชั้นในพร้อมสเกลจับเวลาซึ่งอยู่ใต้แซฟไฟร์คริสตอลที่มีการเคลือบสารป้องกันแสงสะท้อนทั้งด้านในและด้านนอก การหมุนขอบตัวเรือนชั้นในนี้ทำได้ด้วยเม็ดมะยมที่ตำแหน่ง 2 นาฬิกา ส่วนเม็ดมะยมอีกเม็ดหนึ่งที่อยู่ด้านล่างนั้นใช้ตั้งเวลาเหมือนนาฬิกาทั่วไปที่มีเม็ดมะยมเดียว และเม็ดมะยมทั้ง 2 ตำแหน่งนี้เป็นแบบขันเกลียว คุณจึงมั่นใจได้ในประสิทธิภาพการกันน้ำถึงระดับความลึก 100 เมตรซึ่งเหลือเฟือเกินพอสำหรับการใช้งานตามปกติชีวิตแล้ว
Multifort 8 Two Crowns ทำงานด้วยเครื่องนาฬิกาแบบขึ้นลานอัตโนมัติรุ่นคาลิเบอร์ 72 ซึ่งมีกำลังลานสำรอง 72 ชั่วโมงตามชื่อรุ่น นั่นหมายความว่าถ้าคุณใส่นาฬิการุ่นนี้ในวันศุกร์จนได้ลานเต็มแล้วถอดวางไว้ตอนค่ำ เมื่อหยิบนาฬิกาขึ้นมาเช้าวันจันทร์มันก็จะยังคงเดินอยู่ และที่จริงลานจะยังไม่หมดจนกว่าจะถึงวันจันทร์ตอนค่ำด้วยซ้ำ แต่คุณก็คงจะไม่ใส่นาฬิกาเวลากลางคืนอยู่ดี เครื่องรุ่นคาลิเบอร์ 72 นี้มีบาลานซ์สปริงที่ผลิตจากวัสดุนิวาครอนซึ่งเป็นอัลลอยของโลหะที่มีไทเทเนียมเป็นองค์ประกอบหลักจึงสามารถทนทานต่ออิทธิพลของสนามแม่เหล็กได้ดีเป็นพิเศษ และนี่ก็คือคอนเซปท์ Technology ที่อ้างอิงถึงในแรงบันดาลใจของการออกแบบนาฬิการุ่นนี้นั่นเอง
ขณะนี้ MIDO ผลิตนาฬิกา Multifort 8 Two Crowns เป็น 3 รุ่นด้วยกัน ได้แก่ รุ่นหน้าปัดสีดำซึ่งมาพร้อมกับสายสเตนเลสสตีล (43,600 บาท) รุ่นหน้าปัดสีเทาซึ่งมาพร้อมกับสายสเตนเลสสตีล (43,600 บาท) และรุ่นหน้าปัดสีน้ำเงินที่มาพร้อมกับสายยางสีน้ำเงิน (42,300 บาท) และจากงานเปิดตัวในประเทศไทยที่มีเหล่าเซเลบมาร่วมงานเป็นจำนวนมากก็ทำให้เราได้เห็นแบบชัดเจนแล้วว่าตัวเรือนขนาด 40 มม. นี้มีขนาดเหมาะสมที่สุด ผู้ชายใส่แล้วไม่ดูเล็ก ผู้หญิงก็ยังใส่ได้สบายๆ ไม่ดูล้น ด้วยการออกแบบในสไตล์อินทีเกรทเบรซเลทที่ไม่มีขาตัวเรือนยื่นออกมา
และ MIDO ก็ทำตัวเรือนของ Multifort 8 Two Crowns ให้ออกมาบางเพียงแค่ 9.5 มม. ดังนั้นเมื่อประกอบกับสายเบรซเลทของรุ่นหน้าดำและรุ่นหน้าเทาแล้วจึงโอบรับกับข้อมือได้แบบสบายๆ หรือหากต้องการความกระชับยิ่งกว่านั้นก็ต้องเลือกเป็นรุ่นหน้าปัดสีน้ำเงินซึ่งมาพร้อมกับสายยางสีน้ำเงิน งานนี้เราพูดเลยว่าเลือกยาก เพราะว่าใส่สบายทั้ง 2 แบบ แต่หากซื้อเป็นรุ่นหน้าดำหรือหน้าเทาที่มาพร้อมสายเบรซเลทจะคุ้มเงินมากกว่า เพราะว่ารุ่นหน้าน้ำเงินที่เป็นสายยางนั้นถูกกว่าเพียง 1,300 บาทเท่านั้น ไม่ได้ถูกกว่าหลายพัน และสายเบรซเลทของ Multifort 8 Two Crowns นั้นไม่เพียงออกแบบมาให้รับกับเหลี่ยมมุมของตัวเรือนได้ดี แต่ยังมีงานผลิตที่ดีมากๆ เสียด้วย จับแล้วสัมผัสได้ถึงความหนักแน่น รู้สึกมั่นใจขึ้นมาทันทีเลย

MIDO continues to offer consumers a consistently reliable range of quality Swiss-made timepieces, many of which fall within the sporty watch category which is perfect for everyday wear and active lifestyles. In the third quarter of last year, we were mightily impressed by the Ocean Star 39 diving watch, which exceeded expectations with its water resistance and remarkable execution at its price point. Just three months into the new year, MIDO has surprised us once again with the release of the Multifort 8 Two Crowns: a striking new model that embodies the concept of “Technometry” that is a fusion of “Technology” and “Geometry”.
The Multifort 8 Two Crowns is a 40 mm sports watch characterised by a sleek integrated bracelet that connects seamlessly to the case, eliminating the need for protruding lugs. The octagonal bezel design reflects the geometric aspect of its design philosophy, while a key highlight is the inner rotating bezel with timing scale, located beneath the sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides. This inner bezel is operated via the crown at 2 o’clock, while the second crown at 4 o’clock is used for time setting like on regular watches. Both crowns are screw-down, ensuring water resistance of up to 100 metres, which is more than adequate for everyday use.
Powering the watch is the Calibre 72 self-winding movement, which offers an impressive 72-hour power reserve like its name suggests. In practical terms, this means if fully wound on a Friday and left unworn in the evening, the watch will still be running come Monday morning. It will even last until Monday evening, but you would not be wearing the watch at night so that is besides the point. The movement also features a balance spring made of Nivachron – an alloy primarily composed of titanium – which offers superior resistance to magnetic fields. This represents the “Technology” aspect behind the watch’s inspiration.
At present, MIDO offers the Multifort 8 Two Crowns in three versions: a black dial with stainless steel bracelet (THB 43,600), a grey dial with stainless steel bracelet (THB 43,600), and a blue dial with a matching blue rubber strap (THB 42,300). From what we saw at the launch event in Thailand, which was attended by numerous celebrities, it was clear that the 40 mm case size is extremely versatile. It does not look small on male wrists and also wearable and balanced on female wrists too, thanks to the integrated bracelet design that avoids protruding lugs.
Another standout characteristic is the slim 9.5 mm profile of the case, which, when combined with the bracelet on the black and grey versions, sits snugly on the wrist. For an even more precise fit, the blue dial model with rubber strap is ideal. That said, choosing between them is no easy task, as both options offer excellent comfort. However, from a value perspective, the stainless steel bracelet variants do offer better worth, as the rubber strap version is only THB 1,300 cheaper. Moreover, the bracelet does not only reflect the angularity of the case but it is also impressively constructed: solid to the touch and reassuringly robust.
