Montblanc ถ่ายทอดความยิ่งใหญ่และหรูหราของพระราชวังแวร์ซายด้วยเรือนเวลาชั้นสูงในคอลเลคชั่น Star Legacy ในชื่อ Suspended Exo Tourbillon Château de Versailles เรือนเวลาที่สะท้อนถึงความเชี่ยวชาญของแผนกนาฬิกาชั้นสูงแห่ง Montblanc รุ่นนี้นำเอากลไกอันโด่งดังอย่าง Exo Tourbillon ที่เปิดตัวเมื่อปี ค.ศ. 2010 มาต่อยอดเป็นเรือนเวลาอันเปี่ยมไปด้วยเทคนิคกลไกและความวิจิตรตระการตาของงานหัตถศิลป์จากช่างฝีมือแห่งเมซง
หน้าปัดของนาฬิการุ่นนี้ได้รับแรงบันดาลใจมาจากภาพพิมพ์ Decoration for a Masked Ball at Versailles ของ ชาลส์ นิโกลาส โคแชงที่ 1 สะท้อนงานเลี้ยงเต้นรำสวมหน้ากากประวัติศาสตร์ Le Secret du Bal des Ifs ภายใน Hall of Mirrors อันเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของพระราชพิธีอภิเษกสมรสของเจ้าชายหลุยส์ มกุฎราชกุมารและพระราชโอรสในพระเจ้าหลุยส์ที่ 15 ที่จัดขึ้น ณ ห้อง Hall of Mirrors ในพระราชวังแวร์ซายเมื่อเดือนกุมภาพันธ์ปี ค.ศ. 1745
Montblanc ใช้หลากหลายเทคนิคในการสรรค์สร้างหน้าปัดของ Star Legacy รุ่นนี้ ได้แก่ การวาดภาพขนาดเล็กเป็นฉากพื้นหลัง ก่อนที่จะมีการประดับจุดต่างๆ ด้วยเทคนิคมาเคททรี เช่น การใช้หินอ่อนจากแหล่งเดียวกันกับ Hall of Mirrors เพื่อตกแต่งซุ้มประตูโค้ง และใช้ไม้โอ๊คเนื้อแข็งที่ตัดเป็นชิ้นเล็กๆ ปูบริเวณด้านล่างที่เป็นฟลอร์เต้นรำ ซ้อนทับด้วยแผ่นแซฟไฟร์คริสตอลที่ยิงเลเซอร์เป็นรูปแชนเดอร์เลียและผู้คนในงาน
สำหรับหน้าปัดเล็กที่ใช้แสดงเวลาจริงๆ ทางด้านบนนั้นเป็นเอนาเมลสีขาว ตัดด้วยหลักชั่วโมงตัวเลขโรมันสีน้ำเงิน ซึ่งได้แรงบันดาลใจมาจากนาฬิกาขนาดใหญ่และนาฬิกาพกในสมัยพระเจ้าหลุยส์ที่ 14 ตรงกลางประดับด้วยหัวอะพอลโลวัสดุทองเหลืองสีสุกสว่างดูโดดเด่น ในขณะที่ตำแหน่ง 6 นาฬิกาอุทิศให้กับตูร์บิยองแบบเอ็กโซตูร์บิยองที่แขวนอยู่ในระดับที่สูงกว่าหน้าปัดเล็กน้อยด้วยบริดจ์สเตนเลสสตีลเคลือบทองขนาดใหญ่ กลไกตูร์บิยองนี้หมุนครบหนึ่งรอบในเวลา 60 วินาที ดังนั้นจึงทำหน้าที่เป็นเข็มวินาทีไปในตัวด้วยเช่นกัน

นอกจากนี้ Montblanc ยังร่วมมือกับ Elie Bleu บริษัทผลิตโต๊ะหรูสัญชาติฝรั่งเศส และ Reuge บริษัทผลิตกล่องดนตรีลักชัวรีเก่าแก่จากสวิตเซอร์แลนด์ในการเพิ่มความพิเศษให้กับกล่องนาฬิกา โดยบอกเล่าเรื่องราวของพระราชพิธีอภิเษกสมรสดังกล่าวด้วยดนตรีที่เล่นในค่ำคืนงานนั้นจริงๆ ซึ่งแต่งทำนองโดย ฌ็อง-ฟิลิปป์ ราโม เมื่อกดปุ่มที่อยู่ด้านข้างกล่อง ดนตรีจะเริ่มบรรเลงและนาฬิกาก็จะหมุนมาอยู่ในตำแหน่งที่กำหนดไว้

Montblanc captures the grandeur and opulence of the Château de Versailles through a high watchmaking creation in their Star Legacy collection: the Suspended Exo Tourbillon Château de Versailles. This timepiece exemplifies the expertise of Montblanc’s high watchmaking division, further developing the celebrated Exo Tourbillon mechanism first introduced in 2010 into a remarkable expression of technical sophistication and artisanal artistry.
The dial of this watch draws inspiration from Decoration for a Masked Ball at Versailles, an etching by Charles Nicolas Cochin I, depicting the historic masked ball Le Secret du Bal des Ifs held in the Hall of Mirrors as part of the wedding celebrations of Prince Louis, Dauphin of France and son of King Louis XV, in February 1745.
Montblanc employed multiple artistic techniques to bring the dial of this Star Legacy model to life. The background scene was first painted by hand, before being embellished through marquetry work. Marble sourced from the same quarry as that used in the Hall of Mirrors forms the arched doorways, while the dance floor is composed of small pieces of oak wood, overlaid with a sapphire crystal engraved by laser with motifs of chandeliers and costumed guests.
The smaller time display at the top of the dial, inspired by the clocks and pocket watches from the reign of Louis XIV, features an enamel surface with blue Roman numerals. At its centre sits a radiant brass appliqué of Apollo’s head. The lower part of the dial is dedicated to the suspended Exo Tourbillon, raised slightly above the dial and supported by a large gold-coated stainless steel bridge. The tourbillon completes one full rotation every 60 seconds, functioning as a small seconds display in addition to its regulating role.
The Star Legacy Suspended Exo Tourbillon Château de Versailles is powered by the hand-winding Calibre M16.68, which offers a 50-hour power reserve. It is housed in a 44.8 mm yellow gold case, engraved with olive branches along the bezel; and, with likeness of painting by François Lemoyne as found in the Salon de la Paix of Versailles. The watch is fitted with a semi-matt grey calfskin strap, embossed with an alligator pattern, and accentuated with gold stitching – it is secured by a yellow gold folding clasp.
To complement the piece, Montblanc collaborated with two renowned French and Swiss maisons: Elie Bleu, a specialist in fine wooden furniture; and, Reuge, a historic maker of luxury music boxes. Together they created an exceptional presentation case that recounts the royal wedding celebration through music composed by Jean-Philippe Rameau for that very night. When the button on the side of the box is pressed, the melody begins to play while the watch rotates elegantly into its display position.
The Montblanc Star Legacy Suspended Exo Tourbillon Château de Versailles will be produced in a strictly limited edition of eight pieces, available exclusively through Montblanc boutiques.
