ในช่วงเดือนที่ผ่านมานี้ใครๆ ก็พูดถึงคอลลาบอเรชั่นระหว่าง Audemars Piguet และ Swatch ที่โด่งดังไปทั่วโลก ถึงระดับที่แม้ว่าไม่ใช่คนเล่นนาฬิกาก็รู้จัก แต่น้อยคนนักที่จะรู้ว่า AP นั้นมีการออกแบบนาฬิกาและสร้างสรรค์แคมเปญหรือกิจกรรมร่วมกับดีไซเนอร์และศิลปินในแขนงต่างๆ มาโดยตลอด อย่างในช่วง 2 ปีที่ผ่านมานี้ก็มีนาฬิกา Royal Oak รุ่นพิเศษที่ได้รับการแต่งแต้มด้วยรายละเอียดอันเป็นเอกลักษณ์อย่างเช่นคาแรคเตอร์ชื่อคอมพาเนียนของไบรอัน ดอนเนลีหรือที่รู้จักกันในวงการในนามคอวส์ (KAWS) ตลอดจนแบล็คแพนเธอร์และสไปเดอร์แมนของ Marvel Entertainment เป็นต้น
โลกของแฟชั่นนั้นก็ไม่ใช่อะไรที่ไกลตัวสำหรับ Audemars Piguet เช่นกัน เพราะว่าแบรนด์นาฬิกาอายุกว่า 150 ปีนี้เคยร่วมงานกับดีไซเนอร์ระดับโลกอย่างเช่นทามารา ราล์ฟมาแล้ว ก่อนที่จะออกผลงานร่วมกับ Alyx Studio หรือ 1017 ALYX 9SM ในภายหลัง ดังนั้นเราจึงไม่แปลกใจเลยที่ได้เห็นการประกาศความร่วมมือครั้งใหม่กับยูนและเวอร์บอลแห่ง Ambush ในเดือนพฤษภาคมนี้

ด้วยความที่ทั้งสองชื่นชอบนาฬิกาอยู่แล้ว และตัวเวอร์บอลนั้นก็มี Audemars Piguet อยู่หลายเรือน การคอลลาบอเรทในครั้งนี้จึงสามารถเรียกได้ว่าเป็นการแสดงออกซึ่งความคิดสร้างสรรค์ร่วมกันระหว่างผู้ประดิษฐ์เรือนเวลาและผู้ใช้ระดับไฮโปรไฟล์อย่างแท้จริง โดยมีตัวเรือนทรง Royal Oak Concept ที่คมคายเป็นพื้นฐานในการออกแบบ Royal Oak Concept Flying Tourbillon รุ่นลิมิเต็ดเอดิชั่นพิเศษจำนวน 150 เรือนเท่านั้น
ตัวเรือนขนาด 38.5 มม. ผลิตจากไทเทเนียมและมีการตกแต่งพื้นผิวตามส่วนต่างๆ กันอย่างเห็นได้ชัด ไม่ว่าจะเป็นการพ่นทรายโดยรอบ การขัดเงาบริเวณสันของขอบตัวเรือน และขัดซาตินบริเวณพื้นผิวด้านบนของขอบตัวเรือน หน้าปัดอเวนจูรีนสีดำของนาฬิการุ่นนี้เป็นแบบเปิดบางส่วนเพื่อให้เห็นชุดเกียร์เทรนของเครื่องนาฬิกาแบบไขลานรุ่นคาลิเบอร์ 2982 ที่อยู่ข้างใต้ ตั้งแต่แบเรลสำรองพลังงาน 72 ชั่วโมงที่ตำแหน่ง 11 นาฬิกาไปจนถึงฟลายอิ้งตูร์บิยองที่ตำแหน่ง 6 นาฬิกาซึ่งมีกรงสีแดงดูโดดเด่น เหมือนแกนโลกที่ขับเคลื่อนทุกสิ่งให้เดินไปข้างหน้า
Royal Oak Concept Flying Tourbillon รุ่นที่ Audemars Piguet ออกแบบร่วมกับยูนและเวอร์บอลนี้เป็น Royal Oak Concept ขนาด 38.5 มม. รุ่นแรกที่สามารถสับเปลี่ยนสายได้โดยไม่ต้องใช้อุปกรณ์ช่วย และมาพร้อมกับสาย 2 เส้นด้วยกัน ประกอบด้วยสายยางสีดำและสายยางสีแดงที่มีลวดลายโมเสกขนาดเล็กบนพื้นผิวด้านบน และมีลวดลายควิลท์ด้านในของสายเพื่อความสบายยามเมื่ออยู่บนข้อมือ ซึ่งเจ้าของนาฬิกาสามารถเลือกใช้ได้ตามอารมณ์และการแต่งตัวในแต่ละวัน

The world’s attention seems to have focused on the partnership between Audemars Piguet and Swatch over the past month – the phenomenon went far, far beyond the watch circles. What very few people realised, however, is that AP has long collaborated with designers and artists from a wide range of creative disciplines, both through special watch designs and broader initiatives. Over the past two years alone, we have seen special Royal Oak watches adorned with distinctive details from characters such as Companion by Brian Donnelly, better known as KAWS, as well as Black Panther and Spider-Man from Marvel Entertainment.
The world of fashion is hardly unfamiliar territory for Audemars Piguet either. The watchmaker, now more than 150 years old, has previously worked with renowned designers such as Tamara Ralph before going on to collaborate with Alyx Studio or 1017 ALYX 9SM. It therefore came as little surprise when a new partnership with Yoon and Verbal of Ambush was announced this month.
“Yoon”, or Yoon Ahn, and “Verbal”, or Ryu Yeong-gi, first met while studying at university in Boston, United States. Their relationship eventually led them to Japan, where they married. Verbal pursued a career in music, while Yoon worked in graphic design. Together, they later founded Ambush, transforming it into a high-fashion streetwear label that brought the distinctive spirit of Tokyo design to a global audience.
Given their shared passion for watches, and the fact that Verbal himself owns more than one Audemars Piguet timepieces, this collaboration is a true creative dialogue between a distinguished watchmaking maison and two highly engaged, high-profile watch enthusiasts. The result is a special limited edition Royal Oak Concept Flying Tourbillon of just 150 pieces, built upon the sharp, architectural foundation of the Royal Oak Concept.
The 38.5 mm case is crafted from titanium and showcases a variety of contrasting finishes. Sandblasted surfaces dominate the case, while the bevels are polished and the upper surface of the bezel is satin-brushed. The partially openworked black aventurine dial reveals certain elements of the gear train of the hand-winding Calibre 2982 beneath, from the 72-hour power reserve barrel at 11 o’clock to the flying tourbillon at 6 o’clock whose cage is executed in vivid red like the core of the earth that drives everything forward.
This Royal Oak Concept Flying Tourbillon, created by Audemars Piguet in collaboration with Yoon and Verbal, is also the first 38.5 mm Royal Oak Concept equipped with a tool-free interchangeable strap system. It is supplied with two straps: one in black rubber and the other in red rubber, allowing owners to choose whichever style best suits their mood or attire on any given day. Both feature a micro-mosaic motif on the upper surface. The inner side of each strap is finished with a quilted texture to enhance comfort on the wrist.
