หลังจากที่เราเริ่มตีพิมพ์นิตยสารในประเทศไทยไปได้เป็นเวลา 2-3 ปี เราก็ได้พบกับผู้อ่านจำนวนหนึ่งที่กล่าวชื่นชมคุณภาพของนิตยสารรายไตรมาสของเรา และบอกกับเราว่าเขาเก็บทุกเล่มสะสมเป็นชุด “เพราะว่ามันสวยเหมือนกับเป็นหนังสือ” กองบรรณาธิการของเราได้รับฟังแล้วก็รู้สึกตื้นตันใจ และพยายามรักษามาตรฐานของเราให้ดีสม่ำเสมอเรื่อยมา ดังนั้นเมื่อนิตยสารของเรามีอายุครบ 10 ปี เราจึงตัดสินใจจัดทำหนังสือขึ้นมาเล่มหนึ่งเลยจริงๆ เราต้องการให้หนังสือเล่มนี้เป็นเครื่องมือในการค้นหาความรู้เพื่อความสะดวกของผู้ที่เพิ่งเริ่มสนใจเรื่องนาฬิกาจักรกล ส่วนนักสะสมนาฬิกาที่คุ้นเคยกับแง่มุมต่างๆ ของวงการดีอยู่แล้วก็สามารถนำหนังสือเล่มนี้ไปตั้งไว้ในห้องนั่งเล่นที่บ้านหรือห้องรับแขกในสถานที่ทำงานเพื่อบ่งบอกถึงความสนใจในด้านนี้ของตนให้ผู้มาเยือนได้รับรู้ด้วยตนเอง

About two to three years into our operations in Thailand, we were fortunate to have met a few readers who complimented us on the quality of our quarterly magazine, and shared that they in fact kept every issue as collectibles, “because they were as beautifully made as a book”. Naturally, we felt flattered and have been trying to uphold our standards throughout the years. So, for the 10th anniversary of our magazine, we have decided to produce a book … for real. This one-time publication is meant to be a launchpad for haute horlogerie newcomers to get their bearings quickly and in an informed manner. Veteran collectors should also find this book a natural expression of their lifestyle that can be discreetly proffered in their place of business or living room at home for guests to peruse.
There are four main components to the 328 pages of this reference book. “Introduction to Watches” is an exploration of style, functions and the particularities that make for the richest collecting experience. “Brand Guide (Part 1)” tells the stories of watchmakers from the earliest times up until the quartz revolution. It is followed by “Brand Guide (Part 2)” which cover modern pioneers and revived luminaries from 1980 onwards.
