ในฐานะคนรักนาฬิกาเหมือนคุณผู้อ่าน เราชื่นชอบแบรนด์อย่าง Longines ตรงที่ไม่เพียงมีเรือนเวลาคุณภาพในระดับราคาที่เหมาะสมให้ผู้บริโภคเลือกซื้อ แต่ยังมีประวัติศาสตร์อันยาวนานในฐานะผู้คิดค้นกลไกต่างๆ และในฐานะผู้ผลิตนาฬิกาที่ถูกใช้โดยบุคคลสำคัญในแวดวงต่างๆ ของโลก

ตลาดนาฬิกาในปัจจุบันนี้มีนาฬิกาโครโนกราฟแบบฟลายแบ็คไม่มากรุ่นนัก และในระดับราคาของ Longines นี้ก็แทบจะไม่มีนาฬิกาฟังก์ชั่นดังกล่าวเลย กลไกโครโนกราฟแบบฟลายแบ็คคือกลไกโครโนกราฟที่เราสามารถกดเริ่มจับเวลาครั้งใหม่ได้ทันทีโดยไม่ต้องกดหยุดการจับเวลาครั้งเดิมและกดรีเซ็ทเข็ม ฟังก์ชั่นนี้เป็นประโยชน์อย่างยิ่งสำหรับนักบินในช่วงเริ่มแรกของการบินซึ่งจะต้องจับเวลาหลายสิ่งและคำนวณค่าหลายอย่างโดยไม่มีอุปกรณ์อิเล็กทรอนิกส์ช่วยอย่างในสมัยนี้ และ Longines ก็พร้อมตอบโจทย์ความต้องการของนักบินตั้งแต่เมื่อ 100 ปีก่อนในปี ค.ศ. 1925 ด้วยการผลิตนาฬิกาโครโนกราฟแบบฟลายแบ็ครุ่นแรกของแบรนด์
Longines Spirit Flyback คือการกลับมาเกิดใหม่ของอุดมคติดังกล่าวในตัวเรือนขนาดเส้นผ่าศูนย์กลาง 42 มม. ทำงานด้วยเครื่องนาฬิกาแบบขึ้นลานอัตโนมัติรุ่นคาลิเบอร์ L791.4 ซึ่งพัฒนาขึ้นและผลิตเพื่อ Longines โดยเฉพาะ กลไกโครโนกราฟของนาฬิการุ่นนี้สามารถจับเวลาได้นาน 30 นาทีและมีระบบควบคุมทำงานแบบคอลัมน์วีล บาลานซ์สปริงผลิตจากวัสดุซิลิคอนจึงมีความทนทานต่อสนามแม่เหล็กสูงกว่ามาตรฐาน ISO 764 ถึง 10 เท่า และ Longines ยังส่งเครื่องรุ่นที่มีกำลังลานสำรอง 68 ชั่วโมงนี้ไปเข้ารับการทดสอบเพื่อรับรองความเที่ยงตรงตามมาตรฐานโครโนมิเตอร์อีกด้วย
ในช่วงเริ่มแรกนั้น Longines นำเสนอนาฬิกา Spirit Flyback ในรูปแบบสเตนเลสสตีลพร้อมด้วยหน้าปัดสีมาตรฐานของแบรนด์ซึ่งก็คือสีน้ำเงินและสีดำ และเมื่อตลาดเริ่มรู้จักกับนาฬิการุ่นนี้ดีขึ้นตามลำดับแล้ว Longines จึงได้นำเสนอ Spirit Flyback ในเวอร์ชั่นที่มีลูกเล่นเพิ่มมากขึ้น นั่นก็คือเวอร์ชั่นทูโทนระหว่างสเตนเลสสตีลและทอง 18 กะรัต โดยในเวอร์ชั่นแรกนั้นจะเป็นสเตนเลสสตีลและเยลโลว์โกลด์ซึ่งจับคู่กับหน้าปัดและสายสีเขียวเข้ม ดูน่าค้นหา และอีกเวอร์ชั่นหนึ่งจะเป็นสเตนเลสสตีลและโรสโกลด์ซึ่งจับคู่กับหน้าปัดและสายสีน้ำตาลเข้ม ดูภูมิฐาน
เมื่อเราสังเกตใกล้ๆ จะพบว่าหน้าปัดของ Spirit Flyback รุ่นทูโทนทั้ง 2 รุ่นนี้มีการใช้เทคนิคไล่สีจากอ่อนบริเวณตรงกลางหน้าปัดไปเป็นเข้มบริเวณรอบนอกอย่างสวยงาม และเมื่อพลิกไปทางด้านหลังก็จะเห็นอีกหนึ่งรายละเอียดแห่งความใส่ใจของ Longines นั่นก็คือการทำโรเตอร์ขึ้นลานของเครื่องนาฬิกาให้เป็นทองสีเดียวกันกับปุ่มกดและเม็ดมะยมที่ผลิตจากเยลโลว์โกลด์ในรุ่นสีเขียวหรือโรสโกลด์ในรุ่นสีน้ำตาล ส่วนขอบตัวเรือนแบบหมุนได้สองทิศทางนั้นใช้วิธีการเคลือบสีทองและมีวงแหวนเซรามิกแบบทนทานต่อการขีดข่วนสีเขียวหรือสีน้ำตาลติดตั้ง

สำหรับ Spirit Zulu Time ในปัจจุบันนั้นมีฟังก์ชั่นการทำงานของจีเอ็มทีแบบเต็มรูปแบบ กล่าวคือ คุณสามารถตั้งเข็ม 24 ชั่วโมงและเข็มชั่วโมงแบบปกติไว้ให้เป็นเวลาประเทศไทยทั้งคู่ก่อน แล้วเมื่อเดินทางไปถึงประเทศที่ไปเยือนก็เพียงดึงเม็ดมะยมออกมาหนึ่งจังหวะเพื่อหมุนปรับตั้งเข็มชั่วโมงแบบปกติโดยอิสระให้ตรงกับเวลาท้องถิ่น โดยที่เข็มนาทีและเข็ม 24 ชั่วโมงจะยังคงเดินต่อไปตามปกติโดยไม่ได้รับผลกระทบแต่อย่างใด เพียงเท่านี้คุณก็สามารถดูเวลาได้พร้อมกัน 2 ประเทศแล้ว หรือหากไม่ได้เดินทางไปที่ใดก็สามารถตั้งเข็มชั่วโมงแบบปกติให้เป็นเวลาประเทศไทย และตั้งเข็ม 24 ชั่วโมงให้เป็นเวลาของอีกประเทศหนึ่งที่คุณมีธุระต้องติดต่อเป็นประจำหรือมีคนในครอบครัวอาศัยอยู่ได้
Spirit Zulu Time เวอร์ชั่นใหม่ล่าสุดที่เราเลือกมานำเสนอนี้ใช้วัสดุไทเทเนียมเกรด 5 ในการผลิตตัวเรือนขนาด 39 มม. และสายนาฬิกาจึงมีน้ำหนักเบาเป็นพิเศษ สวมใส่สบายและไม่เกิดอาการระคายเคืองผิวหนังในกรณีของคนที่มีผิวแพ้ง่าย หน้าปัดของนาฬิการุ่นนี้เป็นสีแอนธราไซท์หรือเทาเข้มที่ดูเกือบจะเป็นสีดำซึ่งช่วยขับให้เข็มบอกเวลาและหลักชั่วโมงเคลือบสีทองดูชัดเจนยิ่งขึ้น สำหรับวงแหวนขอบตัวเรือนเซรามิกนั้นก็มีการแบ่งโซนเป็นสีดำสำหรับช่วงเวลากลางคืนและสีเทาเข้มสำหรับช่วงเวลากลางวันด้วย ต่างจากรุ่นก่อนๆ ที่เป็นสีเดียวทั้งวง
เครื่องนาฬิกาของ Spirit Zulu Time เป็นรุ่นคาลิเบอร์ L844.4 ซึ่งพัฒนาขึ้นและผลิตเพื่อ Longines โดยเฉพาะ และมีซิลิคอนบาลานซ์สปริง ทั้งยังผ่านการทดสอบและรับรองความเที่ยงตรงระดับโครโนมิเตอร์เหมือนกับเครื่องของ Spirit Flyback สำหรับเรื่องของกำลังลานสำรองนั้นก็อยู่ที่ 72 ชั่วโมงหรือ 3 วันเต็ม

As fellow watch enthusiasts, we appreciate brands like Longines not only for offering high-quality timepieces at reasonable prices, but also for their long history of horological innovation, and their role as a watchmaker whose creations have been worn by notable figures across various fields.
Spirit is the name of a watch collection introduced in 2020, inspired by the perseverance and courage of pioneering adventurers who fearlessly explored the world. These qualities were not limited to aviators but extended to explorers in other fields, whether on land or at sea. The Spirit collection has expanded each year with new models, all sharing the same case design and dial details. These include Arabic numeral hour markers, diamond-shaped markers on the minute scale and at the tip of the second hand, and the 5-star emblem above the 6 o’clock position which was historically used in watchmaking to signify quality.
Two models that currently stand out for us are the Spirit Flyback, featured on this WOW Lite cover, and the Spirit Zulu Time, a dependable travel companion for any occasion.
In today’s watch market, flyback chronograph models are relatively rare, and within Longines’ price range, this function is almost unheard of. A flyback chronograph allows the timing function to be restarted instantly without first stopping and resetting the chronograph. The feature was proven invaluable for early aviators who needed to time multiple events and perform calculations without the aid of modern electronic instruments. Longines has catered to pilots’ needs for over a century, having introduced their first flyback chronograph in 1925.
The Longines Spirit Flyback is a modern revival of this legacy, housed in a 42 mm case and powered by the self-winding Calibre L791.4, developed and manufactured exclusively for Longines. The chronograph mechanism measures up to 30 minutes and operates with a column-wheel control system. Its balance spring is made of silicon, providing magnetic resistance 10 times greater than the ISO 764 standard. Longines has also submitted this movement for testing and certification as a chronometer to guarantee its precision.
Initially, the Spirit Flyback was available in stainless steel with the standard colours of blue and black. As the model gained recognition, Longines has now expanded the line with a more distinctive bicolour version, combining stainless steel with 18-carat gold. The first variation pairs stainless steel with yellow gold, complemented by a deep green dial and strap for an intriguing aesthetic. The second features stainless steel with rose gold, matched with a dark brown dial and strap for a dignified look.
Upon closer inspection, both bicolour Spirit Flyback models feature a beautifully executed gradient dial, transitioning from a lighter hue at the centre to a darker shade at the edges. Turning the watch over reveals another example of Longines’ meticulous attention to detail – the oscillating weight of the movement is finished in a gold tone matching the pushers and crown, which are crafted from yellow gold in the green model and rose gold in the brown one. The bidirectional rotating bezel is also coated in gold and fitted with a scratch-resistant ceramic insert in either green or brown.
For those who prefer a more understated colour scheme or a smaller case size, the new Spirit Zulu Time is an excellent option. This latest model is crafted entirely from Grade 5 titanium, including both the case and bracelet, ensuring exceptional lightness and enhanced comfort, particularly for those with sensitive skin.
The Spirit Zulu Time debuted in 2022 with a 42 mm case, followed by a 39 mm version in 2023. The name “Zulu Time” refers to the universal time standard used by aviators, and whether by coincidence or not, Longines introduced their first dual-time watch under this name exactly a century ago, just like their flyback chronograph.
The modern Spirit Zulu Time features a fully functional GMT complication. We advise you to set both the 24-hour hand and the standard hour hand to the home time first. Upon arriving at a new destination, pull out the crown by one position and turn it until the standard hour hand matches the local time. This process can be done independently from the minute hand and the 24-hour hands which remain unaffected. Conversely, when not travelling, you can set the standard hour hand to home time and the 24-hour hand to the time of another country of your interest, whether it is for business or personal reasons.
The latest Spirit Zulu Time model highlighted here features a 39 mm case and bracelet made from Grade 5 titanium, offering a lightweight and comfortable wearing experience. Its anthracite dial, which appears almost black, provides striking contrast against the gold-tone hour markers and hands. The ceramic bezel insert is divided into a black section for nighttime hours and a dark grey section for daytime hours, distinguishing it from previous models with a single-tone bezel.
Inside, the watch is powered by the Longines-exclusive Calibre L844.4, equipped with a silicon balance spring and certified as a chronometer, just like the Spirit Flyback movement. It also boasts an impressive 72-hour power reserve or three full days.
Both of these models feature a domed sapphire crystal with multiple layers of anti-reflective coating on both sides, ensuring optimal visibility. With a water resistance rating of 100 metres and a five-year warranty, they provide exactly the peace of mind desired by those who seek a robust yet elegant tool watch.
