The most outstanding wristwatch presented by Panerai at this year’s Watches and Wonders Geneva is the platinum-cased Luminor with perpetual calendar and GMT functions, officially named the Luminor Perpetual Calendar GMT Platinumtech PAM01575.
This 44 mm Luminor model retains the signature Panerai aesthetic by displaying the day and date through rotating discs instead of the hands and sub-dials commonly found on most perpetual calendar watches. At the same time, it introduces a contemporary touch with a semi-transparent dial crafted from blue sapphire crystal, subtly revealing the day and date discs beneath.
Turning the watch over reveals the Calibre P.4100 movement, equipped with a gold micro-rotor for automatic winding and delivering a three-day power reserve via a twin-barrel configuration. The power reserve status can be checked through an indicator adjacent to this micro-rotor. Positioned above this are the four-digit year display, and, a combined indication for the months and the leap year cycle as this is a perpetual calendar watch that shows the correct date regardless of the month’s length or whether the year includes 29 February.
The Luminor Perpetual Calendar GMT Platinumtech PAM01575 is worn on a dark blue alligator leather strap for a formal look, or a blue rubber strap for a noticeably more casual and sporty character.
