ความร่วมมือครั้งใหม่ระหว่าง Seiko แห่งญี่ปุ่นและ PDM แห่งประเทศไทย

Seiko เคยร่วมงานกับแบรนด์ PDM ซึ่งโด่งดังจากการออกแบบของแต่งบ้านเฟอร์นิเจอร์มาแล้วครั้งหนึ่ง ผลงานของทั้งสองในเวลานั้นคือบรรจุภัณฑ์ทรงกระบอกไม้ไผ่ที่ไม่เหมือนใครของนาฬิกา Prospex Bamboo Grove Limited Edition (SPB435J) แต่ในครั้งนี้ความร่วมมือของ Seiko และ PDM พัฒนาไปถึงจุดที่มีการออกแบบนาฬิการ่วมกันแล้ว นั่นก็คือ Prospex PDM Limited Edition (SRPM03K) ที่คุณเห็นอยู่ในบทความนี้
PDM หรือ Product Design Matters ก่อตั้งโดยคุณดุลยพล ศรีจันทร์ เมื่อปี ค.ศ. 2014 ด้วยความตั้งใจเริ่มแรกที่จะทำให้เสื่อไทยกลายเป็นสินค้าพรีเมียมระดับโลก และได้คุณซินิ เฮนท์โตเนน นักออกแบบสิ่งทอจากประเทศฟินแลนด์มาเป็นหัวหน้าทีมดีไซน์ จนในภายหลังจึงมีการขยายไลน์ผลิตภัณฑ์ไปจนถึงของใช้อื่นๆ อย่างเช่นกระเป๋า ร่ม และเสื้อผ้าสำหรับชายและหญิง
เราเองนั้นเฝ้าดูพัฒนาการของ PDM แบบห่างๆ เรื่อยมา ดังนั้นเมื่อได้รับทราบว่า PDM ได้ร่วมออกแบบนาฬิกากับ Seiko เราจึงรู้สึกดีใจกับทั้งสองแบรนด์เป็นพิเศษ และยังแอบลุ้นอยู่ว่านาฬิกาที่จะออกมานั้นจะอยู่ในคอลเลคชั่น Presage หรือไม่ เพราะว่าถ้าไม่นับไลน์ Cocktail Time แล้ว Presage ในประเทศไทยก็ดูนิ่งเกินไป เราอยากเห็นความเคลื่อนไหวมากกว่านี้ และดีเอ็นเอของ PDM ก็น่าจะเข้ามาผสมอยู่ใน Presage ได้อย่างเป็นธรรมชาติ
แต่ในที่สุดแล้วก็พบว่าโปรเจคนี้เลือกใช้ตัวเรือน Prospex ซึ่งเป็นที่นิยมอยู่แล้วเป็นพื้นฐานก็เข้าใจได้ ตัวเรือนสเตนเลสสตีลของนาฬิการุ่นนี้เป็นดีไซน์ Samurai ขนาด 41.7 มม. ซึ่งมีความสามารถในการกันน้ำได้ถึงระดับความลึก 200 เมตร จุดเด่นอยู่ที่หน้าปัดสีน้ำเงินลวดลายไตรด์หรือ Stride Pattern อันเป็นเอกลักษณ์ของ PDM ที่สื่อถึงพลังแห่งการเคลื่อนไหวอย่างต่อเนื่องเป็นจังหวะสม่ำเสมอของรูปทรงเรขาคณิตทั้งสามเหลี่ยมและสี่เหลี่ยมได้อย่างลงตัว ประกอบกับขอบตัวเรือนหมุนได้ทิศทางเดียวเพื่อการดำน้ำที่มีวงแหวนขอบตัวเรือนสเตนเลสสตีลสีน้ำเงิน
นาฬิกาลิมิเต็ดเอดิชั่นรุ่น Prospex PDM Limited Edition (SRPM03K) ทำงานด้วยเครื่องนาฬิกาแบบขึ้นลานอัตโนมัติรุ่นคาลิเบอร์ 4R35 ซึ่งมีกำลังลานสำรอง 41 ชั่วโมง ผลิตเป็นจำนวน 500 เรือน บรรจุในกล่องทรงสามเหลี่ยมไม่เหมือนใครที่ออกแบบมาเพื่อนาฬิการุ่นนี้โดยเฉพาะ และเปิดตัวในบรรยากาศง่ายๆ ที่เต็มไปด้วยคนรัก Seiko และแฟนคลับของ PDM มารวมตัวกัน

Seiko had previously collaborated with PDM, a brand celebrated for their distinctive home décor and furniture design. Their first joint creation was the unique bamboo cylinder packaging for the Prospex Bamboo Grove Limited Edition (SPB435J). This time, however, the collaboration has gone a step further, resulting in an actual co-designed timepiece: the Prospex PDM Limited Edition (SRPM03K), as shown in this article.
PDM, or Product Design Matters, was founded in 2014 by Doonyapol Srichan, who set out with the vision of elevating Thai mats into premium global products. The brand’s creative direction is led by Finnish textile designer Sini Henttonen, and over time, their product range expanded to include bags, umbrellas and apparel for both men and women.
We have been following PDM’s development from afar, so when we learned that they were collaborating with Seiko to design a watch, we were genuinely delighted for both brands. We secretly hoped that the project might involve the Presage collection, which, apart from the Cocktail Time line, has been rather quiet in Thailand. PDM’s design DNA would have integrated into Presage.
Nevertheless, the decision to base this collaboration on the ever-popular Prospex line makes perfect sense. The watch features a 41.7 mm stainless steel case in the Samurai design, offering water resistance to a depth of 200 metres. Its highlight lies in the blue dial adorned with PDM’s signature Stride Pattern, a geometric motif of triangles and squares that symbolises rhythmic, continuous movement. The unidirectional rotating bezel for diving, fitted with a blue stainless steel insert, complements the dial beautifully.
The Prospex PDM Limited Edition (SRPM03K) is powered by Seiko’s self-winding Calibre 4R35 movement, which provides a power reserve of 41 hours. Limited to just 500 pieces, it is presented in a distinctive triangular box designed exclusively for this edition. The watch was launched in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere surrounded by Seiko enthusiasts and devoted PDM fans alike.
